The BuzzConf Corner

BuzzConf is a technology festival with a difference. All participants and presenters spend the whole weekend together in a scenic campground rather than in a stuffy conference centre – playing with gadgets, enjoying live music, and learning about technology together.

Bring the family down to Nodebots Day to meet the team and get a little taste of what BuzzConf is all about. This event will include a Virtual Reality cinema, programming tools and robotics for children, and 3D-printed robot spiders!

Virtual Reality Cinema

Virtual Reality is upon us, its a new frontier, a new medium. Forcing a rethink of our approach to film, interactives and games alike. Creators are pushing these new visual boundaries and revisiting and reinventing the sphere of audio production and playback.

VR enables new experiences, ideas, new worlds and different perspectives on experiences of the current world around us. All with digital screens strapped to our heads… who would’ve imagined such a thing, sounds more like a surrealist prank. But it’s here and the world is fast embracing it. This year is the time to experiment and to push into VR.

3D Printing and Robotics

Come and meet Steve and Yoric – a pair of robot spiders created by Adam Purdie (from previous BuzzConf sessions 3D Printing with Blender and Making Sense of Molten Plastic) and decide whether you find them cute or terrifying! Either way, the engineering will inspire and open up your imagination to a world of possibilities with Making and 3D Printing.

Flobots

See Nick Moore‘s latest project up close! First showcased at BuzzConf Night session The Internet of Toys, Nick’s creations bring the joys of robotics and programming to children. The incredibly simple interface of his programming tool Flobot makes programming a breeze and debugging a thing of the past. If that wasn’t enough, you can inspect the hardware he is building and marvel at the miniature robots you can assemble and program with it.
